"Brains Before Games: Prioritizing Students After Concussions" examines how concussions uniquely impact student development, academic performance, and classroom interactions. Participants will learn to define and recognize brain injuries and explore strategies to better support students recovering from concussions in educational settings.
The Home School PE program at Northwestern College has grown and benefited so many over the last two years. Jeff will share how that happened and hopes to show how other colleges and universities can do the same in their locations.

The presentation/activity is a fun progression through a middle school flag football unit. This presentation will encompass developing manipulative skills using a variety of equipment, offensive strategic play (creating playbooks), defensive strategies (playing flag football belt activities), and social interaction with a focus on teamwork and sportsmanship (playing small sided games and creating celebration dances).

Participants will become acquainted with the Dove Self-Esteem Project and gain access to the Confident Me! Program and other free evidence -based resources that can be used to enhance their health education programs.

Randy Webb in Knoxville, Tennessee invented Indoor Hybrid Ball. The sport has elements of basketball, soccer, American football and team handball. The sport has increased in popularity because of its unique characteristics, the options to score, the variety of athletic skills utilized, and the amount of cardio respiratory fitness it offers.

In this presentation we will take a look at what Unified PE looks like in a middle school setting. We will also dive into some examples of instant activities, games and cool downs that you can use to get students of all ability levels involved.

Schools play an important role in promoting the health and safety of children and adolescents by helping them establish lifelong health patterns. Injury prevention and safety is an important topic to teach for prevention and establishing safety behaviors. Such safety behaviors include learning how to wear a bike helmet, properly wearing a seat belt, hazards of distracted driving, crossing the road properly and understanding local laws/rules. Attendees will learn about the various injury prevention topics that can be integrated into health courses and supportive resources that can be used in the classroom.
